I Think this is probably alcohol! Lots of people drink alcohol once they are legally old enough, but this doesn’t mean all adults abuse alcohol!! Obviously most people are responsible when it comes to drinking alcohol.

Have you heard of Professor David Nutt? He spends a lot of his time trying to raise awareness about some of the common misconceptions of drugs, and how alcohol is the most widely consumed drug and causes harm to the most people in the UK when compared to drugs like heroin!

Here is an interesting blog post: http://www.iflscience.com/editors-blog/whats-most-dangerous-drug-world-according-science

In a study by David Nutt he concludes that mostly due to its harm to others – including the wider economy – alcohol was considered to be by far the most dangerous and the most widely consumed.

Alcohol is certainly the most dangerous drug in terms of the harm it causes. It may also be the most popular although we don’t always think if it as a ‘drug’. Paracetamol must be in the top five as well.

I’m not sure. Maybe alcohol or caffeine or paracetamol? A substance only becomes harmful when you take too much of it.
