Yes, they can. I’ve had a few pets in the past who got cancer. Sadly they didn’t get better. I don’t know what the treatments are like for animals, but I think they’re really expensive. It’s really expensive to treat cancer in humans too, but fortunately we’ve got the NHS here in the UK so we don’t have to pay for it. Unfortunately there isn’t an NHS for animals so a lot of people can’t afford to treat their animals for cancer.

Richard is right! Most animal can get cancer! BUT! There is one which can’t! The Naked Mole Rat. Researchers have discovered that the secret to this rodent’s good health is a complex sugar that helps keeps cells from clumping together and forming tumours.

Yes, like humans they can. There are many similarities between animals and humans but also many differences so humans and animals get different types of cancers.

Yes virtually anything that grows and contains genetic material has the ability for cells to mutate and get cancer. However, in the wild animals tend not to live long enough to get it, particularly if they are not at the top of the food chain. It tends to be more common in animals in captivity or pets.
